Acres bite down with new single “Built to Bleed” — New album lands May 2

Acres’ new single “Built To Bleed” is here, taken from the upcoming album The Host, out May 2 via Solid State Records. Metal fans will enjoy the gnarly riffs and unforgiving vocals.

The lyrics cut deeper than usual, too. “I’ve never been one to feel good about myself,” says bassist Jack Rogers, who wrote the track. “I got used to hiding it. Therapy made me realize how much I’d been carrying.” The result is a song that doesn’t just vent—it bleeds.

The full album marks a new direction. Recorded in Michigan with Landon Tewers (The Plot In You), The Host stretches Acres’ sound into darker, more volatile territory. Drop tunings, crunchy electronics, and a new kind of heaviness. “We’ve never written the same record twice,” says vocalist Ben Lumber. “This time, we wanted to push even further. Landon helped us do that.”

The Host is not about playing it safe. It’s about ripping the mask off—every track dragging something uncomfortable in to the light.

Acres is on tour with The Devil Wears Prada this spring and will also appear at select Beartooth shows.
