Dayseeker lean into horror-inspired atmosphere on “Shapeshift”
Dayseeker released a new immersive music visualizer for their new single “Shapeshift” — keep scrolling to watch! “Shapeshift” is a song that features this melodic and electronic pulsing beat that matches the pacing of the lyrics, which turns into a heavy breakdown and roaring guitars, heavy drums.
Dayseeker has planned their albums in a fashion that showcases their talents perfectly. Each song has showcased how precise they can be with making sure everything — including the small details most people miss — fits perfectly into their songs. Zac Mayfield’s heavy drum section towards the end of “Shapeshift” set an expectation for the upcoming album Creature In The Black Night.
Dayseeker will release their upcoming album Creature In The Black Night on October 24, via Spinefarm Records.
Vocalist Rory Rodriquez recently released a statement about “Shapeshift” stating, “This song is about the anxiety I live with on a daily basis. An open letter to myself about how it shifts and molds me into a different version of me."
“Shapeshift” is the third released single for Dayseeker’s album Creature In The Black Night which is planned to be released on October 24, via Spinefarm Records.
The new album continued to paint a dark and shadowy visual that Dayseeker fans have come to love and want more of. “Shapeshift” and the other released singles touch heavily on this visual identity of a reaper with a vibrant, dream-like atmosphere, while the songs themselves unfold like chapters.

"There’s a horror-inspired vibe that took hold early on," Rodriguez explains. “It wasn't planned. But once it started showing up in the songs, we leaned into it."
Fans expecting the descent into depression, as previously seen in Dayseeker’s albums Sleeptalk and Dark Sun may be caught off guard. Creature In The Black Night has heavier riffs and sharper clarity around the edges.
“There was this idea that we'd get more and more commercial over time," Rodriguez says. “But I think the opposite happened — we're riffing more, I'm screaming more. And it feels good. It feels honest." Dayseeker defintely feels as if they are ascending.
Dayseeker is currently on tour with Ice Nine Kills, Kim Dracula, and The Funeral Portrait. They have taken the audience by storm and continue to heavily promote Creature In The Black Night.
