From Ashes to New and shakes Sacramento’s Ace of Spades

One mission: make it to the venue. You make it to mid-town Sacramento and pay for the parking spot close to the venue, Ace of Spades. Exiting your car, you feel the braising heat and the humid air hit your face. You rush to the venue in hopes you made it in enough time for your VIP early entry.

With luck, you made it on time. You enter the venue with the brisk AC and die-hard fans all over the place, asking questions and taking pictures with the members of From Ashes To New. After VIP, you push to the barrier and wait for the opener to take the stage.

NOT ENOUGH SPACE

The opening act, Not Enough Space, takes the stage. A two-vocalist band led by two women takes the stage and kicks off the show by setting the tone with intense and moody lighting and a dramatic entrance. They continue their set with this amazing dynamic between the two vocalists, which makes the crowd move. Once the crowd is warmed up, they finish with their last song, mosh pits breaking out, and people headbanging.

UNTIL I WAKE

The next set is Until I Wake, they take the stage to a very warm welcome from fans. The roar of the crowd is intense, and the band feeds off the energy. During their set, they asked for people to jump and mosh, and the fans delivered. By this time, the air was thick and humid, the security team was pumped to receive crowd surfers, and the fans were ecstatic.

MAGNOLIA PARK

Magnolia Park enters the stage. You watch them casually go to their spots, then you hear the beginning of “Misfits”. The band played tons of their hits and was on top of their game with the performance. The band looked very comfortable in this scenario. Crowd surfers flooded the pit, moshers and fans lifted them up and sent them to the stage. For “Animal,” the band encouraged the crowd to go even more insane in the mosh pit, the crowd surfers not to stop, and the fans who aren’t moshing to jump. Feeling the ground shaking from the fans lit a smile on the band's face as they left the stage.

FROM ASHES TO NEW

Ashes To New takes the stage, one at a time, while the lighting is going nuts, you see a guitarist from each side enter and meet center stage. They kick off the song while the drummer enters. The song is “New Disease”. The lighting did not disappoint. The mixing gave decent audio for it being a small venue, and the band was electric. During the set, they played a mix of slow and melodic songs and more metal/hard rock-esque songs, which gave the fans time to catch their breath from jumping up and down.

The band left the stage as Matt Brandyberry talked about his viral moment at Louder Than Life, which involved him sitting on stage and opening up about his mental health. Brandyberry continued to mention that no matter the fans' differences or similarities, they're a family. The moment touched many fans, including a lot of the people who had no idea who From Ashes To New were, as they bought tickets for the opening acts. This brief pause in the set made the set feel complete. Fans started to realize that we all bond over music, and they connected.

Brandyberry kicked off the rest of the show and ended with their hit song “Panic”. The crowd was chanting and moving. The fans craved more and wanted to have more of a show, but sadly, the show ended, and FATN came out and tossed guitar picks, drumsticks, and set lists into the crowd as Creed’s “Higher” came over the amplifiers.
