The newly founded trio Held. brings together veterans of alternative and heavy music, featuring Douglas Robinson and Sal Mignano of The Sleeping, alongside Josh Eppard of Coheed and Cambria.
Held. blends modern heavy metal with polished melodies. Like many projects born from seasoned veterans, their lyrics run deeper and the musicianship feels more intentional. Let’s call it: Heavy with a purpose.
Their debut album GREY arrives May 15 via MNRK Heavy, with the band releasing a powerful first statement with the single “NEW YOU ANTHEM”, featuring Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance.
GREY album cover.
“I wrote the idea for this song in my room. I was motivated to write something anthemic, not for the sake of being purely anthemic but more or less therapeutic for people who feel down all of the time.”
Robinson shares “I wanted to write something that encapsulates the feeling of any kind of love as survival. I reference different points of love throughout the song: music, friendship, sound, belief in yourself, and the desire for others to believe in you. It’s subtle but it’s all there: ‘if our infection is loving, then we’re drinking up to the swell of the sun.’”
GREY was recorded at the Animal Farm in Flemington, New Jersey, and was produced and mixed by Jon Markson (Drug Church, The Story So Far). You can pre-save the album and order your limited-edition vinyl here: https://held.ffm.to/grey.
