Legendary funk band Lettuce branches into the culinary arts with latest single Breathe, upcoming LP Cook
Lettuce (the legendary funky sextet, not the leafy green) continues to tease their upcoming LP Cook with their latest single “Breathe,” a funky track melded with a retro hip-hop vibe. Following the release of the lead single “Gold Tooth,” and a cover of the Keni Burke classic “Rising to the Top”, the band’s signature blend of all-organic, additive free funk is on full display with this latest hit.

It’s easy to see why “Breathe” is a personal favorite of the band, with Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet, horns) saying, “This is my favorite song on the record. I can just see myself strutting down the streets of NYC on a brisk October night, thinking of all the possibilities my future holds if I just listen to myself and breathe.” With its silky smooth guitar, grooving bass, and melodic horns, “Breathe” is a song just made to soundtrack your next night out.

While the LP Cook is a nod to the band’s musical heat, it’s also Lettuce inviting you to join them at the table, where a medley of genres all come together in one flavorful, hypnotic dish. The album will offer a full buffet of sonic treats, as the band explores new territories in their pantry of musical gifts.
In anticipation for the release of Cook, Lettuce has hit the road for an international tour, with dates stretching into 2026. Kicking off in Paris, the band will stretch all over Europe, Japan, Australia, and the United States, while the full list of dates can be found here.
Just as well, the band has teamed up with Aquila Cellars to bring to fans a special wine and food pairing to go with the album, with Lettuce Red Crush and Lettuce Orange Crush available now, and a recipe book full of pairings for these wines coming soon digitally.
“Breathe” is out now, available wherever music is streamed. Cook is out December 3, via the band’s own Lettuce Records, with preorder available here.
