Countdown to Uncasville: Your Guide to Metallica's Mohegan Sun Weekend

In just over two months, thrash metal legends Metallica take over Connecticut for a two-night, no-repeat weekend, the capstone of Mohegan Sun Arena's 25th Anniversary. Springsteen, Prince, Beyoncé, and Ozzy have all taken that stage over the last two and a half decades. And for this celebration, Mohegan booked the heaviest and most monumental act possible to fill the 10,000-seat arena.

Metallica will be in Las Vegas from October 2026 through March 2027 in a 24 show Life Burns Faster residency at the Sphere. Outside of their residency, these two nights in Uncasville are the only announced U.S. dates on the calendar in either year.

Metallica's website lists both nights as sold out. Resale queues are still out there, though the hype around the only weekend of its kind has pushed prices out of reach, nosebleeds included.

If you have secured your tickets, keep reading to plan what will be a once-in-a-lifetime weekend!

GETTING THERE

For those not from the Northeast, Mohegan Sun Arena is a part of the larger Mohegan Sun Casino, located in Uncasville, Connecticut. Depending on where you're coming from, here are your routes from New York, Hartford, and Boston.

From New York. Just over two hours by car (with no traffic). Take I-95 North to Exit 76 for I-395 North, then Exit 9. By rail, Amtrak Northeast Regional runs from New York City to New London in roughly two and a half hours, with around nine to eleven departures a day, then it's a 20-minute rideshare to the casino.

From Hartford. Take Route 2 East to I-395 South, roughly 45 minutes.

From Boston. The trip is about 90 minutes by car, take I-90 West to I-395 South to Exit 9, or I-95 South to Route 32 North. Amtrak’s South Station to New London runs under two hours and puts you in the same rideshare situation as those New York Amtrak customers.

You can also find nearby hotels from most major chains. Honestly, if you're attending both nights, staying at the Casino is your best bet. Mohegan is selling hotel packages tied to both dates, including a three-day package built for the full weekend, you can find that link here: https://mohegansun.com/hotel-spa-and-golf/special-packages.html

PARKING

Mohegan Sun has over 13,000 parking spaces between three garages and all parking is free.

RØKKR Pro-tip: If you are driving in for one night, park on the top level of the Riverview garage. Riverview is the closest garage to the arena, and the top level has road access directly out, so you skip the queue below to exit.

VENUE POLICY

No backpacks, string bags, messenger bags, or rolling bags, and no personal water bottles. There's a coat check near the Riverview Earth entrance. Here is your full list of prohibited items and policies as it relates to guest conduct and re-entry: https://mohegansun.com/poi/venues/mohegan-sun-arena/policies.html

Keep in mind Mohegan Sun Arena is a Smoke-Free venue. Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the Arena, including restrooms. Guests who fail to comply with this policy may be subject to ejection from the Arena.
