Pipe Bomb delivers explosive full length album, Hell Hole

Thrashing its way out of the Philadelphia scene, metalcore band Pipe Bomb delivers an explosive full-length album Hell Hole on March 18, via Resuscitation Records. The album delivers 10 tracks of chaos and carnage that picks up right where its previous EP Stomp left off.
On Hell Hole, the band leans into the faster, more aggressive edges of its sound. From the blistering pace of “Tabloid” and “Bliss” to the slow, menacing buildup of the title track, each song feeds into the next, giving the record a sense of direction, instead of feeling just stitched together.
“I didn’t overthink it,” vocalist Mitchell Layton tells RØKKR. “So if I got an idea and it felt sincere, it’s on the track, regardless of whether it felt ‘too hardcore’ or ‘too metal’ compared to what I’ve done before.”
Lyrically, “Hell Hole” digs into a variety of topics, from depression and mental health to the friction between modern politics and the Christian gospel.
“Life was pretty turbulent for me mentally when I was writing this album, both in terms of my take on existence and my outlook on the people around me,” says Layton. “Looking back, the emotions behind most of these songs were overwhelmingly negative. I know there can be pain and anger in truth, but I was getting a bit lopsided. I felt like there wasn’t really much I could do to solve any of the problems I saw around me, so these songs were a way of dissecting a world that’s upside down.”
