Snail Mail Announces Ricochet Tour With Spring North American RuN

Lindsey Jordan has never been in a hurry to do things on anyone else's timeline. Five years after Valentine cemented her place among indie rock's best working songwriters, Snail Mail returns this spring with Ricochet, her third album, due March 27 on Matador Records, and a major North American tour to match.

The run kicks off April 10 in Milwaukee and works its way through over two dozen cities before wrapping in mid-May, with a UK leg to follow in late June. High-profile stops include Brooklyn Paramount on April 15, Big Night Live in Boston on April 17, The Wiltern in Los Angeles on May 1, and The Warfield in San Francisco on May 4. Support varies by market, with Sharp Pins on most dates, alongside Swirlies, Armlock, Rocket, and others depending on the night.

Ricochet marks a notable shift for Jordan, both personally and creatively. Written following a move from New York City to North Carolina, the album finds her sitting with questions she'd previously sidestepped, namely mortality, the passage of time, and the quiet anxiety of watching good things slip away. The album's eleven songs pair her trademark lyricism with more expansive melodies, string arrangements, and a sound that draws from the sunnier corners of '90s alternative rock. Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead in their Britpop era, and the shoegaze haze of Catherine Wheel all serve as inspiration for the sound, filtered through Jordan's unique lens.

Two singles are already out ahead of the album's release. "Dead End" mourns the uncomplicated ease of suburban adolescence, grunge-gaze textures crashing into a sugary hook before giving way to a communal singalong finish. "My Maker," which Jordan co-produced alongside Aron Kobayashi Ritch, takes a more spacious approach, her voice floating over mellotron swirls and acoustic guitar as she reckons with fate and what lies beyond it. Both tracks point toward an artist operating with more confidence and range than ever, a fact made more striking given that Jordan underwent surgery for vocal polyps and extensive speech therapy ahead of the Valentine tour in 2021.

This will be Snail Mail's first extensive North American run in support of Ricochet, and given the five-year gap since her last album cycle, demand is going to be high. Tickets are on sale now for all dates.
