Trivium return with their first new album in five years, sharing the title track to their upcoming album, Crown In The Grave. The song showcases that classic Trivium sound that fans of the band have come to love over the past 20+ years, heavy and melodic with soaring guitar solos. The accompanying music video, directed by Pavel Trebukhin, mirrors the Japanese-inspired album artwork, with a dark Japanese theater aesthetic, and some post-apocalyptic vibes thrown in. It’s a visually stunning video that captures the song’s visceral storytelling.

"Crown In The Grave is our eleventh record, and when you get this far into a career, it’s easy to rest on what you've already done — or to reinvent yourself just for the sake of it," says bassist Pauolo Gregoletto. "With this record, we wanted to find the space between those two things: Take everything we've learned and everything that makes Trivium what it is, but present it in ways we hadn't before."

"We also wanted the record to exist within its own world. That began with the title track, inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Throne of Blood, and led us deeper into Japanese horror and cinema from the '50s, '60s, and '70s. That influence grew into this darker, ghostly atmosphere that became a set of guardrails for the music, lyrics, artwork, and overall identity of the record."

Given how the band is wearing their inspirations on their sleeve for this record from a thematic perspective, it only makes sense that they are doing the whole thing their way. For the first time, the band wrote and recorded the entire album at their own studio and rehearsal spot, The Hangar in Orlando. The new album also marks the first with new drummer, Alex ‘Rüdi’ Rüdinger. Frontman Matt Heafy noted "Rüdi didn't just kill it on the drums; his contributions as a writer made a huge difference." Leading production on the album was longtime producer Josh Wilbur alongside Jacob Hansen on mixing duties.

Crown In The Grave track list:

  1. “Jorōgumo"

  2. “Crown In The Grave"

  3. “Dead Inside of Me"

  4. “The Terror"

The new album will sure to be a mix of everything that fans have come to love about Trivium while adding new elements to bring something new to the table. Corey Beaulieu noted "We made the record we'd been dying to make. The late great Shaun Glass [Soil] was a big Trivium fan. He'd always say, "You guys don't cook the same meal.' Even though we use the same ingredients, we always make a new dish. Crown In The Grave arrives November 20 through Roadrunner Records. Fans can preorder the new album on the bands webstore.

To celebrate the release of the new album, Trivium hit the road on November 5th in St. Petersburg, FL and run through December 19th in Charlotte, NC. It’s an absolutely gargantuan bill, teaming up with In Flames, Orbit Culture, Fit for an Autopsy, and Frozen Soul in support on select dates. Fans can get tickets for select dates here
