Unnatural Order and Modes Take Over Voodoo Belfast

On a damp and humid Thursday evening on September 16, two bands from England on their first tour outside Great Britain arrived at Voodoo Belfast. Having demolished Dublin the night before, Belfast was next on the hit list.

Lucky for me I got a chance to have a chat with the guys to find out how they got on with their first visit to Ireland. After a quick scoot up to the Giants Causeway, the lads were in Belfast gearing up for a night of heavy riffs and roaring vocals.

MODES

Modes hailing from Kent, England were main support fronted by former and since returning singer Ted, coming back after his replacement moved onto other things. Their first gigs of the year starting a few days prior, they are certainly not out of practice. A well oiled metalcore machine powering through set list stables with topics of mental health, change, growth and acceptance as well as their new single "Misery." If you are a fan of Heart of a Coward, As I Lay Dying and All That Remains, this band is worth a listen.

UNNATURAL ORDER

Headlining were three piece Unnatural Order, also from Kent, England. This band would be described as modern metalcore with deathcore and nu-metal influences. Think Graphic Nature, Motionless in White and Born of Osiris.

They blasted through their set including four song EP titled "Observe//Infiltrate" which will be released in October this year. Their mission was to inject people's souls with adrenaline, to let loose with catharsis. Their lyrics range from metal health struggles to feeling detached from society.

It was an onslaught of an evening from these two fresh and bold bands. The crowd were full of moves, with lots of kicks and spins, the pit was not for the faint hearted. A thoroughly enjoyable night!
