Architects Go All In for a Half-Full Crowd in Reno

Walking into the Grand Sierra Resort, you feel a cold breeze brushing against your face, you see the clouds acting as curtains concealing the Sierras, people rushing into the venue to get out of the cold. As you enter the doors, you can hear the opening band starting their set. People hurry to get their merch and get to their seats or to the pit.

HOLYWATR

HOLYWATR was a great pick for an opener, they showcased their talents well during their shorter set, which made the majority of the Reno locals love them. Talking with a few fans they said that they “had heard a few of their songs but weren’t expecting them to be that good”. With HOLYWATR being the only opener for the set, you could feel the expectations that the fans had for them and to say that they exceeded those would be an understatement.

ARCHITECTS

The Architects put on a phenomenal show for a city that extremely underestimated them. The band started their tour in Reno, which may have been a bad move. But for this band I think it was strategic. Frontman Sam Carter and the rest of the band poured their souls into the whole set, no matter how much white light hit the seats or the pit.

The pit was the only area to sell out and had no resales available, the seats just above the pit had availability and everything behind the front of the house console was damn-near empty. The reason I think this was a strategic move is because the Architects have never had a major appearance in this city.

When people think of Reno—or when I describe Reno to others its typically “if Vegas never got out of the 70s”, which is why I think this undersold but they saw their fans show in full. I believe whole-heartly that this was a rare moment for Reno fans. This just might be the only time to have an intimate moment with Architects. The show felt so personal and passionate. This show will hold a special place in many of our hearts.

The Architects played a full set of harsh vocals and heavy tones. Their set included a 17-song list and nothing but absolute grit and gutturals. If I could give you a recommendation on whether to catch Architects this tour, I absolutely would say you should go. This band is in high demand and just because Reno wasn't slammed packed doesn’t mean the other shows aren’t. Las Vegas was their next stop and seeing fans’ videos and reels from that show, the house was packed. If you don’t pull the trigger on tickets, this tour will be a memory you’ll wish you had made.
