Beartooth are officially back, and as expected, and they did not come quietly. The Ohio rockers have released their new single “Free,” a massive, emotionally charged track that signals the beginning of a new chapter for the band following their signing to Fearless Records.

Co-written and co-produced by Jordan Fish, “Free” marks Beartooth’s first new music since 2023 and wastes no time reestablishing the band’s signature intensity. The track opens on a comparatively restrained, almost acoustic-leaning moment before detonating into a chorus built for maximum crowd participation. When frontman Caleb Shomo declares, “But I know something you don’t know… I’m free, I’m free, I’m free,” it lands like a bomb went off.

Once the chorus hits, the headbanging is practically automatic. Still, what keeps “Free” from feeling one-note is its emotional core. Shomo leans fully into vulnerability here, delivering lyrics that feel designed to be screamed back from barricades and arena seats alike.

If this single is any indication, the next Beartooth album could be their most emotionally direct release yet. Shomo shared:

“Free” is the start of the next chapter of my music and my life. The emotional roller coaster that is living can be very complicated at times. In one day you can equally experience pure fear and pure joy. This song shows a glimpse of what is to come from the next Beartooth album, which is the most honest depiction of my soul I will most likely ever make.

The release also marks the band’s new partnership with Fearless Records. Shomo spoke highly of the move, noting that the label has empowered him creatively in a way he has not experienced before. Fearless Records president Andy Serrao echoed the enthusiasm, calling “Free” the perfect launch point for this new era.

More than a decade into their run, Beartooth have built a reputation on turning raw emotion into arena-sized rock. With over 1.3 billion global streams, an RIAA platinum single, and 2023’s The Surface debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart, the band’s upward trajectory has been hard to ignore.

They are now bringing that momentum directly to fans across North America as direct support for Bad Omens on a major arena tour. The run kicked off February 22 in Salt Lake City and includes high-profile stops at Prudential Center in Newark on March 10, TD Garden in Boston on March 11, and the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on March 26 before wrapping in Oakland on March 27.

If “Free” is the tone-setter for what comes next, Beartooth are not easing gently into this era. They are kicking the door down.

Fans can stream “Free” now and catch the band on the road throughout March.
