Southern California’s Chicano art-rock band Integra Pink is no stranger to a genre blend, with the band often pulling inspiration for their music from rock, new wave, and Latin influences. Their latest single however takes the band’s natural skill of blending genres to the next level.  “Spiderman Piñata” is a beautifully chaotic blend of hardcore punk, Cumbia, and Disco, that uses every beat to deliver its message like a punch to the face.

“Spiderman Piñata” begins as a groove heavy dance track with very Cumbia inspired beats, before taking a sharp left turn into a full throttle punk song with hardcore intensity.  While this description sounds like it would be an overwhelming mess of sound, Integra Pink perfectly blends this chaos to match the intensity of the message of the song. The band explains:

"Spiderman Piñata is a song that takes inspiration from different places.Sonically, the song is scattered and bounces around, but I think lyrically it’s more pointed. I talk about the ongoing issue of ICE in the United States and the hypocrisy of those who support it - specifically the religious and the Latinos who have turned their backs on their own."

Integra Pink does not take the message of this song lightly, with the song being lyrically confrontational and unflinching.  The track works to pair vivid street-level imagery with a personal and explosive delivery, a song that works as equal parts protest, release, and a rallying cry.

Dropping on March 27, “Spiderman Piñata” is the first single of Integra Pink’s upcoming EP releasing later this Spring.  You can listen to the song here, and keep an eye out for more music from Integra Pink soon.
