Radio Free Alice gives the people what they need: New music and new collabs

It’s warm and swirling and enigmatic. It pairs well with low hanging fog and black coffee and handwritten poetry written on the bus. Radio Free Alice’s new single release, “Rule 31” fulfills dark wave in the truest sense.
The song is synth heavy, featuring poignant guitar tracks and yearning vocals of lead singer Noah Learmonth. Immediately, the song is comparative to Radiohead, with similar (awesome) percussion to that off of "A Moon Shaped Pool” and “In Rainbows.” Learmonth’s voice is also relatively similar to Thom Yorke, though holistically the band's music stands beyond comparison.
This single is everything I want to hear when I realize I’m not in love. It’s gothic and esoteric and brooding in the most genuine way. Lyricism complements the sonic elements, with heart-wrenching lines like “We’re tapping on your window // Looking around for something to say” and “Try to think something nice // don’t think about how all your friends have all started looking the same.” The intimacy of the single makes me blush.
The Australian based group has delivered on making incredible post-punk music like this since they formed in Sydney in 2020 and have righteously been on the up and up ever since. As stated by Big Hassle, “The band had garnered a respectable following [in Australia] through two well-received EPs and a tireless approach to touring underground venues since 2023.” The band continued into global success, playing at the UK’s Reading & Leeds Festival, selling out shows across the U.S. and performing their own set for The Lot Radio.

Behind the release of “Rule 31,” the band dropped another huge opportunity for fans of neo-rock: Radio Free Alice will join Geese for their sold-out February tour of Australia. The pairing is incredibly well placed, with similar lines of radar explosion. Geese has been described as the “best band coming out of New York City,” quickly growing in popularity and then booming in recognition after the release of their newest album Getting Killed in September of this year. Between the two group’s dedicated fan bases and awesome musical talent, these shows will go down in history. I have never been more jealous of the Land Down Under.

“Rule 31” is another release to add to the long reason why Radio Free Alice is dominating the Melbourne post-punk scene. Comparable to genre legends like Fontaines DC, The Cure, and Deftones their music is the perfect companion to the Individuals of the world.
