Born out of the Boston DIY grunge scene, Sophie McMinn (Vocals), Dylan Hughes (Drums), Harry Van Der Meer (Bass) and Adam Hurt (Guitar) had a beautiful meeting of the musical minds and created a project that would become a complete force, eventually taking over the North East live music scene.
From frat houses to sold-out 500-capacity venues and multiple sold out tours, Sophie’s Body is unquestionably ready to go beyond locality to share their intense and loud energy with those who simply understand.
Now, their debut album, Zero, is hiding in the shadows ready to pounce. Driven by the core of the heart, pure existentialism, and two EP’s under their belt… It’s easy to feel the anticipation for their soon upcoming full length album, which will be released independently on October 30.

A proper mix between alt rock and shoegaze, Sophie’s Body is perfectly self described as bubblegum grunge. The kind of sound that lives with you, surrounds and taps into everything you're avoiding. A lyric turned into a scream, as if coming to understand the collective human experience of the fear of failure.
The album details how deeply wounding it can be to feel stuck, unsure of where to go, and the fear of the other side. They release the hounds, with a vulnerable and intentional edge that pulls you in just to spit you back out. There is absolutely no way of hiding when listening to this album, they beg you to bear it all right alongside them.

Track Notes
01 Eyes
The album opens with a melody that’s sure to get stuck in your head immediately, to then be sung around the house for the next week. Laced with beautiful elements that reminded me of Fiona Apple, Slow Dive & Hole. A letter that quietly prepares you for the rest of the album.
02 Cowboy On A Cross
This one brings you down a hill of emotion, with the promise of a cold body of water at the end. Fast and loud but also, melancholic. An instant connection to whatever feeling you want to place into it.
03 Long Term Loaner
Dreamy and feminine. Fueled raw vocals. With an abrupt ending that signals life’s ever closing, and opening doors.
04 Concrete/Plastic
Begs you to be introspective and think deeply about where you feel the most uncomfortable in this world. Where do I belong? What does this feeling mean and why does it make me feel so?
05 Star
Haunting and intense. An innate understanding of distinguishing smoke and mirrors from authenticity.
06 Socialyte Zero
All about wanting to hit the eject button. Crying out to the void while wanting to burn it all down. Because it feels easier that way.
07 In Defense Of
“Don’t try to numb it, I want it worse” The sweet spot between an intentional confession and just letting it all spill out onto whatever surface is in front of you.
08 Indigo
Dreamy, beautiful vocals. Instrumentals perfectly attuned to the anger and escapism of the lyrics. A continual release forces you to feel the ebb and flow of the complexes of human emotion. An intense closer to a charmingly cohesive release.
