Southpaw FLHC light the way with Torches, join Spinefarm family
On August 27th, Spinefarm Records announced the addition of Southpaw FLHC to their global roster. Shortly after the announcement, Southpaw released amusic video for their new single “Torches”.
“Torches” leans on a nerve that many may find inspirational or to find discipline. It talks about running the game in your life, being a top-class individual, whether it's business, music, or life itself. The torchbearer sets the tone, dictates the standard, protects legacy, and lights the way for others. It’s a responsibility and lifestyle of sacrifice and unwavering commitment. It’s not given without loss, nor should it be.
Frontman Daryn LaMontagne states, “To be the example, you must live the example and hold the line. ‘Torches' reminds us: Legacies aren't inherited; they are forged."
Southpaw FLHC bridges the gap between new and old school hardcore elements while touching on punk, metal, and hip hop. In 2020, Southpaw crashed the scene with their self-titled EP release, and they haven’t taken a breath since. They’ve released seven singles with accompanying music videos. Their DIY aesthetic is catching eyes and gives a strong impression to fans.
The band has toured alongside With Blood Comes Cleansing, Tracheotomy, Bodysnatcher, Surfaced, and Hoods. Every show is full of heavy music, mosh pits, and a wild crowd. And in 2025, they headlined a tour with Cutthroats, Kind Eyes, Unvow, and Resistor. They’re hometown pride runs deep, and it shows as they performed a sold-out show at Jacksonville’s new venue for the hardcore scen, Hard Love.

Southpaw have established themselves as an up-and-comer in this hardcore scene. This is only the beginning. Their partnership with Spinefarm will allow them to reach a new level. In 2026, the band is expected to release their first full-length album, which is said to be their heaviest material. The album will touch on self-empowerment, perseverance, and building a legacy.
