Self-described Arizona emo band, The Maine, dropped their latest single “Quiet Part Loud” last Friday. This and “Die to Fall” are the first two singles released from their upcoming album Joy Next Door, which they announced last month.
“Quiet Part Loud” is a mesmerizing track featuring steady drums and echoing, intimate vocals. In speaking of the songwriting for the track, frontman John O’Callaghan said:
“Some songs take months or years to write, and some take hours. This one came together quickly out of necessity, because time is sometimes not on your side. With that notion in mind… say what you want while you still can.”
Joy Next Door, the band’s 10th studio album, drops on April 10, 2026. Releasing at the height of their career, it's arguably their most essential. The band wrote and recorded the LP in sequential order to further emphasize the storytelling approach they took to the album.
The Maine continues to follow the tradition of each album having a color corresponding with the era. Drummer Pat Kirch reflects, “Every album of ours has a color that represents it, and Joy Next Door is the green era. The green grass on the album art feels like it matches perfectly with the organic instrumentation and imperfections left intact on the album.”
In support of the new album, The Maine is hitting the road for their first headlining tour in nearly two years. The band kicks off the tour on March 24 at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 26-date headlining tour will bring The Maine to legendary venues all over the United States; including sold out shows at Phoenix (the band’s hometown) , Boston and Washington D.C.
