Florida-based band, Wage War, announced via Fearless Records that they are set to release a new EP titled It Calls Me By Name on April 17. You can pre-order your copy HERE!
On February 25, Wage War gave fans a taste of the EP by dropping a music video for the new single “Song of The Swamp”, and needless to say it's one of the heaviest songs they have released in years.
The song starts with an atmospheric nature sound, beating drums and Briton Bond (lead vocals) belting out a short verse. The beginning is haunting and sets a feeling that something is lurking around. What’s lurking for you is heavy breakdowns!
The song features bloodthirsty vocals, deadly riffs, and a rolling drum sound that just feels like you have been yanked into the water with Florida’s deadliest gator. The band declared it “the tone setter” and that most of the song’s inspiration was “Driven by Florida and the raw aggression of nature, it's a heavy track built on tension and hostility."
The band also commented on the EP itself:
“It Calls Me By Name is about being drawn to your roots. This isn't a concept EP but is meant to live in its own world. Five tracks shaped by Florida, the swamp, and the relentless aggression of nature. Built heavy, but still driven by the hooks that have defined us. It's our signature sound amplified and pushed further into metal than we've ever taken it."
