The group steps into a more pop sound in their new single, syths and all. A guitar solo in the bridge of the song shines with all the technicality of Midwest-emo, but with a newfound brightness. Guitarist Edgar Viveros said the band took inspiration from pop-rock staples All-American Rejects and Motion City Soundtrack when writing the new album.

“It was the first time we broke away from strict Midwest emo and punk structures, and it came together faster than anything we’ve written,” Viveros said.

Wisher will be the group’s sophomore album, following their 2022 debut I’m Scared That’s All There Is, which explored the uncertainty of youth. In the years since its release, the band has grown and its newfound pop sensibilities reflect the hopefulness that comes with age. But, “It’s Just A Title” shows the problems haven’t gone away; they've just grown up too.

“‘It’s Just A Title’ is about living with constant existential insecurity and questioning whether life now is any better than before,” Viveros said. Despite those feelings of insecurity, the band seem secure in the direction they’re heading with Wisher. “Overall, this record is the most confident we’ve ever been as songwriters.”

Ben Quad’s new album Wisher is set to release November 14.

Ben Quad will be on tour in the U.S. this fall supporting labelmates KOKO and in Europe next February, supporting Arms’ Length.

Wisher is available for physical pre-order with vinyl and bundle options here!
